Descant to the hymn tune MICHAEL. Free score with harmonized descant.
Robert Bridges wrote 'All my hope on God is founded' as a paraphrase of the Joachim Neander hymn 'Meine Hoffnung stehet feste' (lit., 'My hope stands fast,' c. 1680), which he published in his own 1899 volume, the Yattendon Hymnal.
The hymn tune MICHAEL was written in 1935 by Herbert Howells, a memorial to his 9 year old son, who died that year of polio (or possibly, meningitis). This was one of several compositions written for or about, or inspired by, this catastrophic event in Howell's life. This includes a Requiem, which remained in a desk drawer until it was published in 1981, more than 40 years following Michael's death, and only two years before his own.

Still from earth to God eternal
sacrifice of praise be done,
high above all praises praising
for the gift of Christ his Son.
Christ doth call one and all:
ye who follow shall not fall.
